Battagram is a district in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It has a total land area of 1301 square kilometres and the estimated population of Battagram District in 2004–2005 was 361,000.

Pashto is main language spoken in Swat specific yusaf zai dialect but significant number of people speaks Punjabi Language (Hindko, Gujri and Majhi dialects). Kohistani is also spoken by few. Urdu being National language is also spoken and understood.

Once known for its towering Hindu Kush mountain range and the presence of the old Silk Route, Battagram was the epicentre of the disastrous October 2005 earthquake, which razed the district’s settlements. After facing two years of extreme poverty, harsh winters and a shattered economy, Battagram is still inching towards reconstruction. It obtained the status of a district in 1993 after splitting up from Mansehra district.
